On the Road again
Wow so much has happened since our November entry… We were staying at a couple different RV park in the area so we could spend time with my family. It was costing us 600-700 a month for full hook-ups with electric. They were ok for the location but really nothing more than a parking lot with the rest of the snowbirds. We were visiting my mom who lives in a 55 and over park. It was really nice and clean. They had a lot of amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, gym, tons of activities like Bingo, casino trips, Texas hold-um tournaments and tons more. They even have RV parking in secure area with electric hookups. The park is what they call a Coop, so if you buy into the park you are an owner as well. This gives you say in what happens as well as keep the costs low. We decided to see what was available for purchase. There were a few and we were able to find a unit that would make a great spot to relax in the Winter as well as allow us to get any needed work on the RV completed. It needed a little updating so we took care of that. This was a little more money spent than in our budget but in the long run it will be a good decision. The monthly cost are less than 150 or so a month which includes RV storage with electric. By staying here it will save us money in the long run. Our normal cost to be here from Oct – Mar would be $700 a month ($700 X 5 months= $3500) but paying $150 ( $150 x 12 months= $1800 a year) that will save us quite a bit. Not only the savings but it is a nice safety net if the wheels come off some day.
We had a lot of great time visiting all my family and making new friends in the park but we are ready to get back on the road. We will be heading over to San Diego for a week or so then plan to head up the coast towards Oregon. We need to get some yearly doctor visits and Vet visit for Bruce out of the way. After that we plan to head up to Alaska in June. We are going to caravan up with my brother and his wife. This should be a great adventure. This will be our first time caravanning so we will see how are pace works with their pace. Below are a few of the sights of Tucson and surrounding areas.
